Glenn Reynolds linked to this Craig Sullentrop piece in the NYT, which pretty much says that if John Edwards can't get endorsed by the Service Employees International Union already, then he's toast.
Which made me wonder, Now that we're in an age that the UAW caves to a weak entity like GM in just 48 hours, what does a union endorsement really mean?
GM's weakness is its strength -- as I think you and other commenters here have pointed out. It would be all too easy for the UAW to destroy GM, which clearly they do not want.
seiu and afscme are the two biggest unions now - and both represent GOVERNMENT WORKERS.
basically, the dems raise our taxes and give it to these two unions.
so they are VERY important for the dems.
the gop is the party of the taxPAYERS.
the dems are the arty of the taxGETTERS.
The SEIU endorsed and gave money to our first black president, Jesse Jackson. Oh wait, he lost then didn't he. Is there a list of the candidates the SEIU endorsed and who won?
