You have got to be kidding me:
NEW YORK (AP) - Former CBS news anchor Dan Rather filed a $70 million lawsuit Wednesday against the network, former corporate parent Viacom Inc., and three of his former bosses.
Rather's complaint stems from "CBS' intentional mishandling" of the aftermath of a discredited story about President George W. Bush's time in the Texas Air National Guard.
The lawsuit, filed in State Supreme Court in Manhattan, also names CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves, Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone, and Andrew Heyward, former president of CBS News.
Rather is seeking $20 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages.
I mean, you have got to be freakin' kidding me.
UPDATE: Rather got suckered in by some fake documents, basically because he wanted to, and got fired for it. And now he's the one with the lawsuit? You must be friggin' joking.
UPDATE #2: You're kidding, right?
UPDATE #3: Right???
Oh man, this will be a good one. I'd love to read the depositions.
Must run out for more popcorn and beer.
I think you're being too easy on Rather saying he "got suckered." Everybody is too easy on him. Had a journalist reported a similar fake story on the eve of the election that had implicated the Democratic candidate in dishonor, his or her crow-pecked, sun-bleached skull would still on top of an NYC flag pole.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for giving folks the benefit of the doubt, but the truth is there is so little doubt in Rather's complicity in the forgery that I find it amazing he's gotten off so lightly from the public.

RE: Rather Stupid...
....if you ask me.
But he's taking his cue from Imus' lawsuit against ABC.
There might be something in Rather's contract with CBS that he could use. I don't know. But one would hope that the so-called major networks would have clauses to protect themselves for firing someone who obviously did something terribly wrong ON their program, like lying.

P.S. I think I'll watch Network, tonight.
RE: Rather Stupid
How about Rather Deranged, or Rather Gullible?

"How about Rather Deranged, or Rather Gullible?" -- Sharpshooter
He hasn't demonstrated being 'deranged'....yet.
I'll agree with 'gullible', as he has been that from the start of this fiasco of his.
But I prefer 'stupid'. It is more appropo, as I define it as being 'ignorant' and 'proud of it'.
