Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's not such a big leap from Holocaust denial to 9/11 denial.
Having taken hudreds of depositions and/or trial testimony through interpreters, it's not an egregious stretch for 911 to be translated as "airplane crashes." Really, one must be careful to not blame the speaker for the translater's transgressions.
Of course, that may well have been her intention. If so, fuck her.
Medienkritik is usually spot-on. I trust his translations because, well, the man is German and knows his language -- and his
press.
@ Danny
It is, however, an egregious stretch to call the 9/11 terror attacks "accidents" and then call them "crashes" in the same response. That is exactly what Ms. Claussen did - and if you watched the video and knew any Germany - that would be obvious to you.
The German word "Unfaelle" - used by Ms. Claussen in her response - can only be translated as accidents. There is no way one could describe this as an innocent misunderstanding. It would help if you examined the translation in question before casting doubt on it with anecdotes that - in this case - clearly have no relevance.
Typo above: Should read "knew any German".
