Some Peoples' Kids
Posted by Stephen Green  ·  17 August 2006

In a post about photography, someone left me the following comment:

oh my god - did you hear that pajamas media blogger dan drezner killed himself this morning?

That's a lie, and a vicious one at that. It might not surprise you that commenter "steve" has the exact same IP address as Deb Frisch. The email address she's using is "janke@email.com," but I assume it's a fake.

What the hell is wrong with someone that they would lie about a suicice? In Deb's case, it seems like a lot of things.

Comments

Stephen,

She's a sick and twisted individual. Please stay away from her as much as possible. Ban her if you need to.

Her comment actually made me go check on Dan's condition.

What is wrong with people like her?

Posted by: A fine scotch at August 17, 2006 03:03 PM

Could be text book projection.

Posted by: jaymaster at August 17, 2006 03:24 PM

projection? it's possible, but I'd go with fantasy and wishful thinking on her part... but Drezner? I guess she just needs a new target now that Goldstein's got an RO.

Posted by: rick at August 17, 2006 03:54 PM

Upon further research, my diagnosis is something in the area of a “Cluster B Personality Disorder”, probably histrionic and narcissistic.

Posted by: jaymaster at August 17, 2006 04:10 PM

Glenn Reynolds had a quote up today on how "Bush's opponents are his greatest asset."

I think Deb fits that profile.

Posted by: John at August 17, 2006 04:23 PM

Look at it this way - you've made it to the big time. Deb only annoys the best of the best.

Posted by: Captain Ned at August 17, 2006 04:53 PM

I'm Steve Janke. She was at my blog last week with another suicide note. Exactly one week ago, in fact. She seems to go nutty on Thursdays. I gave her posting a rough ride and far more notoriety than she perhaps wanted, so maybe this is payback.

Posted by: Steve Janke at August 17, 2006 06:01 PM

I think "teh crayzee" is trying to see just how many blogs she can get herself gonged from, and then write a book about it.

Kinda like Steve at HogOnIce with his book about nigerian E-mail scams, only with a refreshingly batshit psychotic twist.

Posted by: JD at August 17, 2006 06:11 PM

What a sad, sad female.

Posted by: Sandy P at August 17, 2006 06:19 PM

Steve Janke,

Do you have a young child? Are you Jewish?

I’m just trying to establish a profile, if you will.

Obviously, she has something against pajamas media, and maybe non-leftist, libertarian leaning bloggers in particular.

I’m wondering if she’s also got issues with bloggers who have young children.

Like, those children she, as a self proclaimed “lesbian”, won’t ever have.

Posted by: jaymaster at August 17, 2006 06:49 PM

Very sick person in need of some serious medical intervention.

Posted by: Robin Roberts at August 17, 2006 08:13 PM

Idiots do idiotic things. Ecch.

Steven, good to have you back. Not that Will didn't hold up his end, but... well, you've been a mainstay for so long.

Dog pic was cool, too.

Posted by: geezer at August 17, 2006 08:45 PM

Yikes, she needs to put that crack-pipe down.

Posted by: Dan at August 18, 2006 12:05 AM

Could we set her up with Doug from 2 posts down?

I know she's a lesbian, but I don't think either of them are in a position to be choosy.

Posted by: bgates at August 18, 2006 02:14 AM

I'm not Jewish, and to the best of my knowledge, Deb Frisch has never said anything about my kids. I am a conservative and a Pajamas Media member. I might have garnered some notice in all this when I gave a Canadian blogger, a hardcore leftist, a rough time for defending Frisch and dismissing her threats at Jeff Goldstein's son.

Posted by: Steve Janke at August 18, 2006 02:22 AM

I had a bizarre Deb Frisch comment on my blog yesterday morning, which I quickly spam filed. I wonder if this is actually Frisch doing all this or just some ignoramus posting under that name?

Neither OTB nor VP are exactly Protein Wisdom stylistically. And VP has been largely dormant the last couple months.

Posted by: James Joyner at August 18, 2006 04:54 AM

What the hell is wrong with someone that they would lie about a suicice?

I don't really want to know, but I'd consider it grounds for banning them from my site and killfiling their email.

Narcissistic personalities are in it for the attention- they're kind of like the puppy who keeps pestering you to throw the ball once you toss it once. Don't give them any, and they'll go looking for someone who will play along with their fantasy.

Might be worth emailing the Blogfather and asking for some advice- he's probably dealt with this kind of thing before.

If all else fails, get a restraining order.

Posted by: rosignol at August 18, 2006 05:28 AM

James J:

It would seem that Deb Frisch herself has been posting all over the place.

Blackfive encountered her, when she left a remarkably ugly comment in a post commemorating a fallen SEAL.

The business here is in line with what happened at Steve Janke's blog (which, in turn, was related to the comment left at Blackfive).

Prior to the business with Goldstein, Frisch had also cyberstalked Professor Bainbridge, and regularly trolled at Steve Verdon's place (where she kept making weird accusations about Bainbridge's sexuality).

In the most recent cases, she seems to have been using the same IP address, suggesting that it's her.

Posted by: Lurking Observer at August 18, 2006 07:32 AM

Look at it this way - you've made it to the big time. Deb only annoys the best of the best.

Stephen Green was already bigtime before Frisch decided to make an appearance here. And "annoy" wasn't the word I had in mind.

From the Jerusalem Post blog. Combat writing doesn't get better.

Posted by: Earth Papa at August 18, 2006 09:24 AM

Is there any such thing as a class action restraining order? The entire right wing blogosphere may need one. :)

Posted by: Brian Macker at August 18, 2006 09:37 AM

Actually, if you go back to the beginning of the Fritsch stalking over at PW, you'll see she's trying to get banned.

Why? I don't know; it shouldn't be too hard to develop hypotheses. I would suggest she views banning as some sort of trophy.

Posted by: Casey Tompkins at August 18, 2006 10:14 AM

She seems to have a facination with death, particularly suicide lately. Perhaps she has plans. Will anybody miss her? Sadly, No!

Posted by: Boss429 at August 18, 2006 10:52 AM

Of course she has a fascination w/death, she's a member of the death party/progressive - what do you think they want to progress to?

Posted by: Sandy P at August 18, 2006 12:15 PM

I learned a new phrase today, coined by Florida Cracker ~ "micturating moonbat". And then I pop in to see if Steve is finally back (he is) and it appears he has one of his own.

What a world.

Posted by: tree hugging sister at August 18, 2006 02:04 PM

I've used "retromicturating" for a while. A good, largely forgotten word.

Posted by: Dead Bear at August 18, 2006 04:31 PM

Deb is a sick f*ing loser.

Deb is a sick f*ing loser.
Yeah, but all of you are now writing about her. She isn't worth the effort, IMO. Posted by: Mark Flacy at August 19, 2006 01:20 AM

Take an "Army of Davids" approach to finding these sockpuppets: incorporate an IP hash that is displayed with comments to blogs.
Shortly after the Greenwald circus came to town, I put together a little snippet or two of PHP code to do this.

It helps distribute the load of identifying these cretins without compromising the privacy of legitimate posters.

Pixy Misa has incorporated the concept into the "new comments thingy" at Ace of Spaces HQ.

Grab the idea, run with it, and let a thousand IP hashes bloom.

RE: First Off

Welcome back. Sorry to hear you were experiencing medical issues. Again, may I counsel you look into homeopathic techniques.....

RE: Frisch

She IS a 'piece of work'.

And, with respect to the connection between her and the phony suicide report....

....if accurate....

...I think she's 'projecting'.

We'll see.

Chuck(le)

RE: If So....

"Yeah, but all of you are now writing about her." -- Mark Flacy

....it's only through an interest in looking into a truly sick psychie.

Seriously....if this sort of negative stroke is how she gets her kicks, let THIS be a lesson to every institution of 'higher learning' in the land.

Again, may I counsel you look into homeopathic techniques.

Sure. Distilled water and sugar pills never did anyone any harm.

Never did anyone any good either, of course.

Posted by: Pixy Misa at August 19, 2006 08:58 PM

Deb Frisch sounds like she is nuttier than a Chinese chicken salad.

Posted by: Peter at August 21, 2006 10:55 PM

Anyone named Deborah or Debra who voluntarily chooses to go by DEB is, by defintion, whacked. It's a law of nature.

Posted by: The Wine Commonsewer at August 22, 2006 10:10 PM

This is an old comment prank... check slashdot.org for instances of the death of writer Stephen King.

Posted by: Grub at August 23, 2006 05:26 PM

It looks like criminal charges have been filed, details unclear at this point.
