I would be unspeakably remiss if I didn't at least link to this story from Drudge:
On a congressional trip to Estonia, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton astonished her traveling companions by suggesting the group do what one does in the Baltics: hold a vodka-drinking contest!
Delighted, the leader of the overseas delegation, Sen. John McCain, quickly agreed, the NEW YORK TIMES is planning to report on Saturday.
Frankly, I have a hard time seeing myself ever voting for either of them, but hey, at least they have taste in spirits.
Now, the real question is: which brand? Hillary has to be an Absolut drinker--after all, it's made in the socialist Disneyland of Sweden. McCain? If he's out trolling for conservative votes, it sure as hell wouldn't be French-made Gray Goose. I'm betting a nice bottle of staunchly anti-commie Polish Zubrówka.
Hmmm. Seems a bit too pal-sy wow-sy.
Could we be witnessing trial balloons for a third party McCain/Rodham-Clinton ticket in ’08?
Considering McCain's Putin-like taste for government control of political speech, I'd place my bet on Stoly or Russian Standard.
How about Finlandia Vodka? or Koskenkorva Vodka? In Finland the alcohol tax is so high many want the most bang for thier Euro. they go for the higher grade Vodkas or buy Swedish Vin Vodka. Drinking a vodka in an ice glass in Kemi at the Oy LumiLinna Kemi (Snow Castle Kemi) is interesting, if not cool.
I don't care what vodka they drank or how much, it ain't a drop on what I'd need to knock back to vote for either of them.
A McCain-Hillary ticket?
Wouldn't that be a Matter/Anti-Matter situation, resulting in the political annihilation of both candidates?
Feh. None of that hoity hooch. Stick a couple liters of Georgi on the table between them and may the best man stand at the end.
Blue collar booze vote locked!
If either one of them get elected, we're all going to need a WHOLE LOTTA vodka to get through the next four years.
Chopin is another very nice Polish vodka, I believe.
If McCain were a true conservaive he'd go for a good red state vodka like Tito's.
Chopin...good Polish potato vodka.
I understand all that "When in Rome..." sentiment, but why is it that American Senators, thought to be running for the Presidency of America are not expressing a hankering for something American?
Jack Black, anyone?
Skyy vodka is made in the USA. Either Indianna or Illinois.
Given the drinkers in question, my money is on the pair of them telling the center it was Skyy, the left it was Gray Goose, and MADD it was water.
.. and if either of them get elected, I'll be going straight to Everclear.
Nah, go for the Brita-filtered stuff - if you guys haven't seen www.ohmygoditburns.com yet, go there, you'll laugh your ass off(and maybe even learn a couple things from their resident scienticians).
Though really, let's be honest - they both drank whatever was handy. This wasn't preplanned, it was spontaneous, and they had what they could get their hands on.
I bet they both were drinking "Heaven Hill". Psshhht, like they know the difference.
Luksusowa is my favorite.
