The Banality Of Evil
Posted by Will Collier  ·  28 June 2006

A poster to the MilitaryPhoto.net message board has put up a long series of pictures surreptitiously taken by a Russian web designer who recently visited North Korea. Rather than trying to recap them or the translations of their captions, I'll just put up the link here and strongly suggest that you have a look.

Okay, just one recap: I was struck by how nice the beaches look. That is, until you notice the electrified fence that keeps anyone who might thing of swimming away from setting foot on them...

Comments

I've got a book that details what an absolute hell-hole North Korea is....those folks are suffering in a big way.

The photo of the South Korean and North Korean roads at the border more or less says it all.

I'm amazed anyone still idolizes communism, anywhere.

Will, the photographer took a couple of pictures of the Ryungyong Hotel, but he didn't get into too much detail of what a complete disaster this 1000+ft hotel really is.

For more absuridity that is North Korea, check out this site that gives a detailed history on that huge, pyramid structure in the middle of Pyongyang.

I wonder if the Dear Leader let Hans Brix stay there?

Parts of it look like Russia when I visited in the 90s.

Posted by: Sandy P at June 28, 2006 11:57 AM

Yeah, it really reminded me of bits of Moscow and the surrounding area when I was an exchange student there in 1996. But Moscow looked a lot better. Which isn't saying much.

I just had a thought late at night. Isn't there some fiction writer who posits that we have a nuclear device hidden somewhere in China, and that knowledge of this device's existance serves to somewhat keep the Chinese in check?

I wonder how many nuclear devices the Soviets smuggled into the United States? What would you do if you found one?

Will someone please explain the damn bunny and bears statues? LOL that is like seeing a klansman at a Harlem church.

Posted by: Bert at June 28, 2006 09:09 PM

I suggest after the fall of Kim, we should come up with a plan to preserve North Korea as a Stalinist themed amusement park.

Perhaps it could become a UN world heritage monument to communism?

Think how many generations have endured living in hell so moonbats can hold dear an ideal that never was and could never be.

Google for an image called 'earth lights'.

You can see exactly where the borders between North Korea, South Korea, and China are.

Think how many generations have endured living in hell so moonbats can hold dear an ideal that never was and could never be.

If you read the comments on that post, you'll find moonbats still crooning about the wonders of Communism: "Oh, I've seen slums and trailer parks in the US that are much worse than that! I'll take North Korea anytime, thanks!"

Except, you notice, they don't.

(Trailer parks, forsooth.)

Posted by: Angie Schultz at June 30, 2006 08:50 AM

The people in trailerparks have options, dozens of them. Most notably they have the option of pulling ther heads out of the asses.

I suspect those (MonkeyBoy?) who would like North Korea (out their money where their mouths are...oops...not much money to blow when you live in a trailerpark!) are still living with mommy and daddy and are aghast that mom and dad have a 11PM curfew!

Thank you for posting this link. I don't think I would have found it otherwise. This picture series is amazing.
