I confess I haven't paid much attention to the "Kosola" controversy that's been making the rounds this week. Among other things, I just don't take that pack of nut jobs seriously enough to get worked up over their internal squabblings. That said, there are times when a story just jumps up and makes itself interesting and/or entertaining enough to catch your eye, whether you're "into" it or not.

This is one of those times.

Check out this post at TNR's "The Plank" blog, which features an email sent from Markos Moulitsas himself to a group of other leftoid bloggers, imploring them to ignore the story in the hopes that the "traditional media" won't pick it up:

I haven't gotten a single serious media call about it yet. Not one. So far, this story isn't making the jump to the traditional media, and we shouldn't do anything to help make that happen.

My request to you guys is that you ignore this for now. It would make my life easier if we can confine the story. Then, once Jerome can speak and defend himself, then I'll go on the offensive (which is when I would file any lawsuits) and anyone can pile on. If any of us blog on this right now, we fuel the story. Let's starve it of oxygen. And without the "he said, she said" element to the story, you know political journalists are paralyzed into inaction.

Thanks, markos

Yep, this one just crossed the entertainment threshold. Time to make some popcorn.

UPDATE: Hmm. The entire New Republic website is inaccessible this morning. DOS attack? Coincidence? Either way, the timing is certainly... entertaining.

UPDATE UPDATE: Back up now, about 20 minutes later. Most probably coincidence, but a pretty funny one.

What does he mean he hasn't talked to the media?

I talked to him and he said he was waiting to get indicted. Even bought a travel toothbrush and soap on the rope.

Will,

Why is anybody surprised? It seems to me, that this is simply business as usual for them.

The entire leftie cosmos has been going increasingly batshit for years now. It would seem in inverse proportion to their influence on the electorate.

I would not be surprised at all if the worst implications of the Kosola dust up were true.

The only thing that I wonder is who on the 'Townhouse' secret e-mail list (for cool kids only. Should've called it frat house) leaked the e-mail? I wonder if maybe it wasn't the first shot by more mainstream dems to loosen the Kos/Dean/looney left's deathgrip on the party?

After all, the only real possible fallout is Kos's loss of readership and credibility.

In Kos' own words, "fuck 'em."

Na, this wasn't sniffed, it was forwarded.

Someone in the Kossak crowd either genuinely gives a crap about corruption and knows it's not exclusive to Republicans... or maybe they just want Kos to go down.

I dunno which, but I hope it's the former. It'd be nice to see the sane Democrats make a comeback.

You know, I have no idea what this story is about beyond the initial paragraphs you outlined. I have been away for a few months on R&R so I don't catch battle fatigue etc. but since this is the first story I read when I do return (By the way good to be back and check in with all my buddies such as yourself.) But back to the main point about this story, when ever anyone starts to try to bury something like this and in the manner in which these guys are going about it, it warrants further probing... what do they have to hide and why. I probe things like this just for a hobby.

Now I am off to catch up on the rest of the interesting stuff you may have archived over the past few months.

I was on a hunting party and we bagged some interesting leads and some of the other team mates bagged some high value targets I understand. (How's the weather down there Zarqawi? Look around, notice there are no virgins?)

PS Now that I've read the comments above I know exactly what's going on -- the Daly KOS ! I looked into them once - oh my God - those guys won the "Most confused untransparent twisted truth 'moonpire' stake of the month blog award." They are a very confused bunch be careful diseased thinking like that can spread like a biological disease.

With out reading ahead may I comment here while I'm at this comment section that Senator John Kerry the other day admitted that it was the right thing to do to pre-emptively strike Iraq and that Senator Hillary Clinton admitted that having a time based frame to withdraw troops from Iraq is the wrong thing to do -- she was booed by the people she was making this speech to who were at one of her democratic sit-ins. So, to sum up - Kerry admits he was running on the wrong platform for to be President last election and Hillary waffles back to the Republican point of view. I ask myself Why are they doing this? I think that they are getting ready to run for the next election and have to run on a bases that is more in touch with reality (This is a new concept for them.) I still wont vote for them, no matter what they say they do something else other than what they say they are going to do. Political nature is interesting.

Thanks Pundit I have some catching up to do reading your blog, it always has a touch of that 'attic-salt' to it.

Via TNR:

P.P.S. Alas, it looks like Kos is going to have to find another way to issue his marching orders. According to multiple sources, a couple hours ago he unsubscribed to the "Townhouse" list. Fortunately, multiple sources say that a "more exclusive" e-mail list is already in the works.

Looks like the hunt for the mole has begun.

It just keeps getting better. Turns out that Jerome Armstrong was until recently an Astrologer. They are scrubbing down mydd.com as we type.
