You've Got To Be Kidding Me

Crushing of cleanliness in Iran:

Tehran, 14 April (AKI) - Iran's hardline president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has apparently been incensed by an anonymous text message suggesting he does not wash enough. Ahmadinejad has taken legal action over the offending text, has fired the president of a phone company and has had four people arrested and accused of colluding with the Israeli foreign intelligence service, Mossad, the anti-government website Rooz Online reports.

I always knew something about that guy stinks.

The story goes on to say, "Poking fun at the president, the regime's senior figures and its policies, has reportedly become a national pastime in Iran." That's got to be a good sign.

Comments

I want to know what exactly the Iranian nuke program has in common with sex.

This question is going to bug me all day. Thanks, Steve. ;-P

The point that seem to be lost here is that the whole scandal revolved around a series of jokes about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, not just a text message.

Another joke going around about Iran’s president:

A man dies and goes to hell. He sees Ahmadinejad dancing with Jennifer Lopez. The man asks, "Is this Ahmadinejad’s punishment?" "No" is the reply. "It is Jennifer Lopez’s punishment."

Drum roll please.

Posted by: Neo at April 14, 2006 03:58 PM

LOL!

Poor Jennifer Lopez. What did she do to deserve that?

Posted by: Julie (Synova) at April 14, 2006 04:01 PM

Gigli.

Posted by: cirby at April 14, 2006 04:34 PM

How perfect! He assumes it's the Jooooos. Happy Passover, Mahmoud!

It seems trivial, but those kinds of jokes and rumors are exactly the kinds of things that a covert psychological campaign would wage against another country's leaders and elites. If he can get riled up about that and if there is a hidden culture within Iran inclined to enjoy such things then that offers an opportunity for a creative intelligence operator.

WTF? He fires the president of the telephone company? Did he send the message? I do not and have not smoked - but perhaps we could create and drop some marjauna smoke bombs for extensive use in the middle east - they need to calm way the Fuck down. it is starting to look like a pathology - a scary one with nukes, no less.

Posted by: Californioq at April 14, 2006 06:37 PM

Maybe.

But even if it's an "ops" of any sort it's not something that can be entirely manufactured. The feelings have to be there or it wouldn't work. And if the feelings *are* there it could well be spontaneous. Or not. But it could just as well.

Posted by: Julie (Synova) at April 14, 2006 06:39 PM

Unfortuantely the old Warsaw Pact countries had plenty of jokes going around...for decades (example - In Poland, GEN Jaruzelski is on a game show ... Q: What happened in Poland in 1956? A: The workers responded with righteous indignation...Q: Correct! Q: What happened in 1968? A: The workers responded with righteous indignation...Q: Correct! Q: What will happen in 1982? A: I don't know, but I'll take a stab at it...Q: Correct!). Don't get overly hopeful. But it is still fun to hear them, nonetheless.

It was probably just spam, in which case the crack-down is perfectly acceptable. F'ing spammers.

If he can fix that text messaging problem, I'll be impressed but I'd like to see him get Verizon to get my landline and wireless accounts merged. It's been five and a half months and Verizon is still hosed.

Any third world despot can buy a nuke, just call Pakistan (800-BUY-NUKZ). Then just wait for Dr. Khan to arrive at your door. While he's there maybe he can take a look at your cell phone bill too.

The Iranian 'president' probably enjoys connubial relations with hoofed livestock. That'll put a stink on ya in a heartbeat.

Muslim extremists have absolutely no sense of humour. They remind me of leftists in that regard. Both should wear flea collars.

I would be more concerned for his mental hygiene than any other kind at this point.

You know that little monkey stinks so horribly he could peel wall paper.

Posted by: Tom at April 17, 2006 01:17 PM

Maybe Ahmadinejad could be represented as "pigpen" in the muslim version of the Peanuts comic strip.
