Stanislav Petrov saved my life. Yours, too. And your sister's.

It's a shame someone with a popular website couldn't take up some sort of collection to give this guy a reward for his service to the world...
Gee, it's unfortunate nobody here knows anyone like that.
that was the best read of the day. incredible.
Apparently a bunch of SF hippies have figured out a way to get Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov, Soviet Strategic Rocket Forces (retd.) the $20 he richly deserves for saving the world as well as you personally. IMO, this is exactly the sort of behavior that should be generally encouraged.
Here's how you can get Stan that $20:

Next time you're tempted to send a contribution to a political campaign, remember that Stan has ALREADY saved the lives of millions of registered voters.
Dear Green,
"Good bye Dr. Strangelove, we knew he had to go."
I take exception to the Rumsfeld remark. The troop levels on the ground are determined by the Commander on the scene are they not?
We have Iran surrounded but it's a double circle. Don't we have a larger force covering from the outside. All doing the lead up exercises. Trouble breaks out and the Cavalry is short call away. The rest of the post is right on.
If the civil war doesn't work Israel can always pop a nuke into the mullaha house.
Thanks.
