Our Friends The Saudis
Posted by Will Collier · 6 February 2006
From new-to-me blog European Tribune: So what triggered this? Well it takes a blog to explain it. What CNN and the other traditional media failed to tell you is that the thousand gallons of fuel added to the fire of outrage came from none other than our old pals Saudi Arabia. Read the whole thing. UPDATE: I just realized Steve has a link to this same story a few posts down; it looks like the same author posted to both "ET" and Kos. Either way, it's well worth your time. I just realized I made a sarcastic comment about that on my blog at the time - http://www.di2.nu/blog.htm?20060112a (it takes a while to load because the blog has become rather popular recently) Posted by: Francis at February 6, 2006 05:16 AM"(The American media) won’t publish (the Danish) cartoons, but they will run anything they can get out of Abu Ghraib. Both sets of images provoke Islamic anger; note how the media behaves when that anger is directed at them." -- Tim Blair There's some question about the veracity of this report on the DKos site. Have either of you done any research to verify it? Ardsgaine — It's a post on the DailyKOS site. Next question? And I'm puzzled to understand why large numbers of dead pilgrims, which happen every year, are suddenly THIS PARTICULAR YEAR such a big deal... especially when every dead Haji is guaranteed a place in Paradise? Posted by: richard mcenroe at February 6, 2006 08:38 AMRichard, So you're saying that VP should not have linked to it, because it was guaranteed to be false? Um, Will. I'm afraid the deaths of pilgrims during the Hajj are not mourned but celebrated. Until one understands how that can happen, one cannot understand the depths of depravity at which Islam operates. Posted by: Robert Speirs at February 6, 2006 11:31 AMWell, crap. I don't know how the hell I did that. Fixed now, thanks. Posted by: Will Collier at February 6, 2006 11:34 AMWe really do have a way !@#$%^ up foreign policy because of oil. And a commenter at Kos pointed out that, ironically, OBL's number one target is the Saudi royal family. But for the oil, we would have been letting both these snakes devour each other and probably avoided 9/11. Hmm, I think I should stay away from DailyKos. Posted by: nk at February 6, 2006 01:13 PMGreetings from the Middle East. I live here and study language and religion. I have written a short article that talks about the concept of rights and freedoms under Islam v. Christianity. Please check it out: etwist.blogspot.com Posted by: Abu Daoud at February 6, 2006 02:06 PMArdsgaine — You won't lose the rent betting that way. Just like you won't lose an election betting against a candidate Kos backs. Stephen is of course welcome to link to anyone he wants, as long as he remembers the old sergeant's advice he used to post under his picture...*g* Posted by: richard mcenroe at February 6, 2006 09:08 PM |
