No solid & specific leads for you, but the larger civil engineering corporations often hire graphic designers for preparing marketing or display materials. You'd probably be a one-man department. Not sure how challenging such work really is for you though.
CH2M-Hill, Parsons Brinckerhoff, HNTB, etc. all have a Denver presence. Worth a look anyway.

I ask because DexMedia is always in the market for a good graphic artist. And, when last I worked for them, they were interested in freelancers. Something to do with an effort to break the CWA union, as I recall.
