Jeff Goldstein gets his, in the Propaganda Debate:
And what’s frightening is not so much that they’d do it. It’s that they’d believe they were acting honorably.
That's the startling conclusion. Now go read the whole thing and find out what it means.
The MSM has routinely presented anti-American lies as “facts” for 50 years. Prior to the advent of Talk Radio this was suspected by a small # of Americans and known by an even smaller #. It was this MSM bigotry that lead to the creation of Talk Radio 30 years ago. Which in turn has resulted in the MSM seeing its market share fall for 30 years (they even tried to lie about this in the 80’s and 90’s with bogus circulation reports). The most forceful proof of the MSM’s anti-‘American bigotry and the extent to which they put out lies as “news” was Rathergate. Which was well covered by Talk Radio and bloggers a little over a year ago. So of course the MSM put the ACLU’s lies out as front page “news”,
I disagree with “protein wisdom”’s last statement, “And what’s frightening is not so much that they’d do it. It’s that they’d believe they were acting honorably. “
The ACLU is run buy and composed of mostly lawyers. Many lawyers subscribe to Woody Hayes’s famous statement of 50 years ago “Winning … is the only thing in life!”. Woody himself a first rate student of history was only paraphrasing the basic philosophy of the Socialist Labor Party in Germany set out 135 years ago “The ends justify the means”. Some famous ACLU members who have operated using this philosophy : F. Lee Baily, Johnnie Cochran, and John Edwards. The ACLU knew when they put out this bogus report it was a lie. They did not believe it was an honorable thing to do. They did believe as the Socialist Labor Party did for 70 years the “The Ends Justify the Means.” Dr. Joseph Goebbels would be proud.
Incorrect target identification which leads to collateral damage looks bad. A lost battle looks bad. A lost war looks bad. Body bags look bad.
Not every endeavour in war is uniformly successful, and the information battle is part of war.
You have to sustain will, means, and cohesion to fight a war; you have to defeat your enemy's will, means, and cohesion to win it.
The information battle is aimed primarily at sustaining one's own will and defeating one's enemy's.
