Popular Colorado Governor Bill Owens is considered by some to be a Republican presidential contender for 2008. Then again, maybe he's too thin-skinned for the job:
Today, the governor ordered that we develop new policy prohibiting the use of government computers from being used to post to any such [weblog] sites. Please make certain that all members of your respective staffs are notified that this policy is effective immediately.
Walter in Denver has the full story at the link above.
We were discussing the 2008 presidential race following the CR Christmas Party... Good names such as Pence and Tancredo came up, along with George Allen - but I haven't heard Gov. Owens name mentioned that much. I guess with the talk of the other Coloradoan possibly in the race, it's easy for him to be overshadowed (that is, among those on the Right).
As for this issue, it's not something the Governor should get involved in. I guess now everyone will have to wait till 5:15 PM. Oh well, it could be worse...
The use of company (in this case government) computers for personal activities, be it surfing the net, shopping, playing games, running your own business, or whatever, is usually frowned upon if not cause for discipline.
I don't see this as much of a story.
I think that Owens would not make it as a presidential candidate due to his divorce.
Plus the C&D tax grab.
Am I correct?
