"Boobs Not Bombs"
Posted by Stephen Green  ·   4 November 2005

Patrick Carroll forwarded this story from the Sacramento Bee:

Mendocino County women who have been baring their breasts at various venues to protest the war in Iraq are in Sacramento federal court seeking an order prohibiting the California Highway Patrol from arresting them during a planned noon demonstration Monday at the Capitol.

The women's group, Breasts Not Bombs, is suing CHP Commissioner Mike Brown and two of his officers over a warning that if the women demonstrate while topless, they will be arrested and charged with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct.

Rights issues aside, when confronted with the choice of either breasts or bombs, the correct decision is "both."

Seriously, though, the police need to cool it - and the women need a buy a clue. If they wonder why a misogynist culture wants to blow up Americans, maybe someday they'll understand that protests like these are part of the reason.

Me, I'm a big fan of breasts. Which is why the answer is and must be "boobs and bombs."

Comments

...and they'll be the first to receive 100 lashes under sharia law when it hits America.

Opposition for oppostion's sake lacks any logical sense.

Posted by: William Thrash at November 4, 2005 10:01 AM

I wrote about this a few months ago when they staged another protests.

I don't think you'd actually be so in favor of this group Stephen if you saw the quality of the breasts being displayed. But that's just my opinion. I'm all in favor of breasts... but even I have standards.

Posted by: Nick at November 4, 2005 10:03 AM

Wait, they're suing to pre-emptively prevent enforcement of an existing law? I would love to see a court try that. Please keep us informed!

Posted by: sammler at November 4, 2005 10:04 AM

Them boobs are da bomb!
Seriously, I looked at history and the current MidEast situation to decide to support regime change in Iraq. Am I supposed to change my view because of a couple of naked ta-tas? And they aren't even Jessica Alba's ta-tas?

You OBVIOUSLY have not seen these 'women'.

I have. Little Green Footballs pointed the way to some photos of an earlier event this group staged.

It took me a hour to stop retching. We're talking SERIOUS issues with health maintenance. They might have been pretty in the 60s, but that was some time ago.

Oh yeah these broads are BUTT ugly and should remained completely clothed even in the DARK, but on the other hand they'll go a long way to absolutely turning off mainstream America to there lefty lunacy, so it may be a net gain in the long run.

If you follow the link above you can see a scrawny, hunched old geezer hippy festooned with stenciled peace signs over his hideous old naked body, with his scrotum artificially inflated to a grotesque proportion. A more powerful recruiter for the Republican party doesn't exist!! LOL!!!

Posted by: Paul at November 4, 2005 11:34 AM

Man in the area should make T-Shirts to where to the protest:

"BOTH!!"

Going to war is great. We free a country and get public nudity here at home.

Surprised your wife let's you get away with these comments these days ;-)

How is she doing by the way. You've not commented lately? Hope all is well

Posted by: David at November 4, 2005 12:29 PM

When people take a foolish position, we should support their right to argue it foolishly. Even if it does hurt the eyes.

Posted by: byrd at November 4, 2005 12:44 PM

they should be arrested for all violations of the law.

they should also do the maximum, consecutive, for all violations.

hopefully they'll end up in jail for 20-30 years. free speech ends at the point of someone else's nose, or in this case, their ability to avoid going blind.

Posted by: hey at November 4, 2005 12:56 PM

Why on earth should the police back off? They're blatantly disobeying the law, even if they were attractive. So if they wanna protest by going topless, they oughta go to someplace where toplessness is acceptable.

Posted by: Kiwi the Geek at November 4, 2005 01:02 PM

Why can't we get some protestors who are more like "bombs with boobs" instead of these folk?

Posted by: me at November 4, 2005 01:14 PM

I agree they shouldn't be busted. The Cops should JUST SHOOT THEM! Also, someone should puncture Mr. Scrotum's nut bag.

I also have seen the pics, and am surprised I haven't gone blind.

There was even one "woman" with a goatee! Hey, maybe that was Amy Carter?

Posted by: R. Adrian Reilly at November 4, 2005 02:09 PM

Hey I agree i am all about the boob. However, this woman is not the best example of boobage. she is as we pc loving types say, gravitationally challeneged. FAT!

Posted by: kent Collins at November 4, 2005 02:51 PM

That's positively indecent!

So, where exactly do they show their breasts?

Posted by: Jim at November 4, 2005 03:07 PM

i am also a big fan of boobs. but i detest media/attention whores. look at me, look at me. give me a f*ckin break.

this is what happens when women like these burned their bras in the 1960's and 70's. Did any of these women hear of Gillette, Shick, or Bic??

Inner beauty and outer beauty, these females have niether.

I work on Capitol Hill in DC - maybe they could c'mon over and protest? I'm sure the Congressmen and Senators, upstanding citizens all, would know how to handle that situation.

Me. I'd be in it for the boobs.

Posted by: adchalet at November 4, 2005 11:21 PM

wonder if they'd go to DC to protest in a DC winter? Lets see how far their convictions would go.

Posted by: Pamela at November 4, 2005 11:23 PM

If it was a particularly cold winter I'd say their convictions, and nipples, would go quite far.

I agree boobs and bombs are better. Check out this eye catching example:

My husband says they should protest in Iraq--that the troops wouldn't mind protecting that protest. They could call it A Rack to Iraq Project!

Posted by: Nancy at November 5, 2005 07:44 AM

The world outside our borders demonstrates daily Islamic Zealots’ relentless murder and bullying of people of all faiths. But within U.S. borders, the Left acknowledges no enemy but the American Right. International Islamic outrages of just the last week: Three adolescent Christian girls beheaded in Indonesia; more than 59 Indians killed and 114 injured by at least three bombs placed in crowded markets and a bus in New Delhi, during a Hindu Festival of Lights; bombs three truck bombs AIMED AT THE INTERNATIONAL PRESS CORPS IN THE HOTEL PALESTINE IN BAGHDAD. The pace of Islamic terrorism against the world is such that you would have to devote an entire website to just show a listing of the outrages dating back more than a few days.

I have seen photos of the bodies of the three girls. Michelle Malkin has a link to a blog, which has a further link to Reuters archive. Those pictures will disturb you, but you have to face them and keep in mind that they show us the horror those bare-breasted harpies defend. The Reuters main page doesn’t show any obvious pathway to its own archive for those same photos, as though it is reluctant to share the ugly facts of the atrocious behavior. This is consistent with the silent acquiescence of the media to the bullying, threats, and intimidation by Islamic terror groups that has been elsewhere documented.

Meanwhile, safe within the borders of their own country, the Democrats seem to have a view of events as seen through a soda straw. According to them, all the evils of the world— despite Islam’s 14-century history of slaughtering its neighbors — can be attributed to the bungling or malevolence of Bush and his cronies. The alleged women of this protest, like so many pathetickers on the Leftward edge, seem to be reliving the Vietnam protest era. In those days, there really were a lot of girls who would say “yes” to boys who said “no” to the war. Great.

Well, in the fullness of time, it appears the so-called sexual revolution was a huge component of a much more profound self-imposed delusion we have in America: i.e., that reality is somehow obliged to conform to what we think it should be, just because... well, we REALLY WANT IT.

If these idiots want to show their nakedness as a protest, I don’t see much to be gained by arresting them. More likely their displays if allowed will alienate people far more than they can possibly understand.

Posted by: David March at November 5, 2005 07:59 AM

Well, sorry to disappoint but it looks like there will be no boobs on display (at least that kind of boob, anyway) at the Capitol protest:

A Sacramento federal judge ruled Friday that there is "no First Amendment right to bare breasts on the grounds of the state Capitol" and refused to restrain California Highway Patrol officers from arresting a group of women who want to stage a topless protest.
http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/13817053p-14658014c.html

What I find interesting is that BNB wanted to make a shocking protest not of the war but one that: "focuses primarily, though not exclusively, on various initiatives (on Tuesday's ballot) we oppose that Governor Schwarzenegger supports."

So it's not even about the war. Boobs Not Bombs should rename themselves "Have Boobs, Will Protest".

Groups like BNB do not so much express a considered opinion in opposition to Bush or Schwarzenegger's policies, but are a self-involved, narcissistic expression of displeasure at how Republican policies make them feel. At least back in the day, protesters were willing to be hauled off to jail and go to court for their convictions. Instead, BNB goes to court in advance of the protest to clear the way so that its members won't be inconvenienced by lewd and lascivious conduct arrests on their records. How courageous is that?

Sure, her too.

Don't build a strawman, someone can be anti-war and anti-radical-Islam at the same time.

Posted by: Sharpshooter at November 5, 2005 01:59 PM

"someone can be anti-war and anti-radical-Islam at the same time."

Well, it's kinda like being anti-NY Yankees; unless you play them, you'll never defeat them.

Posted by: Sharpshooter at November 5, 2005 02:01 PM

Wait, they're suing to pre-emptively prevent enforcement of an existing law? I would love to see a court try that. Please keep us informed!

You can actually do that, and it's even commoner than you might think. When a plaintiff is threatened with imminent future harm by government action that is alleged to be unconstitutional, you can seek prospective relief.

Posted by: Jack Roy at November 5, 2005 02:04 PM

...and they'll be the first to receive 100 lashes under sharia law when it hits America.

It sounds like you can't wait.

If they wonder why a misogynist culture wants to blow up Americans, maybe someday they'll understand that protests like these are part of the reason.

Translation: If they put their shirts back on, the terrorists have won.

Wow, sounds like you're ready for Sharia Law too!

Amazing.

Posted by: Jason at November 5, 2005 03:20 PM

Let's do this again because I know some of you people are slow on the uptake.

Correct me if I misrepresent your position, which is as follows:

1. Islamist Terrorists want to kill us because of our bombs AND "decadence".

2. Islamist Terrorists want to kill us because women show their ugly boobs in public as a protest.

3. We should give in and appease the terrorists by covering up boobs and by ending all bombing campaigns in Muslin lands.

Posted by: Jason at November 5, 2005 03:41 PM

Jason -- Isn't that Pat Buchanan's platform?

Posted by: richard mcenroe at November 5, 2005 04:16 PM

To elucidate, Jason:

Previous commenters were pointing out the irony of women protesting a war by using methods for which our enemy would kill them, given the chance.

If you doubt that the average reader of this blog is quite happy with breasts in general, just check out the blogroll.

Posted by: Mastiff at November 5, 2005 09:19 PM

Thanks for pointing that out, Mastiff, but I think irony is rather lost on Jason. He's too infatuated with his own disingenuousness.

The chances are that the breasts to be exposed are not going to be the kinds one wants to see. Picture Cindy Sheehan with no top. Now try to procreate.

because ugly girls aren't allowed to exist. well damn. ugly guys neither. all you assholes can go kill yourselves now, kthxbye.

Posted by: kim at November 7, 2005 01:52 AM

The radical Moslems might kill them for exposing their breasts. The goons on this blog would only do that if they didn't find their breasts attractive.

Posted by: Nick Danger at November 7, 2005 07:22 AM

Which statement is true?

1. They hate us because of our freedom
2. They hate us because of our boobs
3. They hate us because of our foreign policy

Duh. #3. Get with it.

Posted by: Boyd Durkin at November 7, 2005 09:35 AM

Goons...? Why, because they ridicule the ridiculous?

Look, a woman who uses her sex to make a point or get her way is already confessing that she has nothing intellectual to offer in support of what she wants. She might still succeed with some men, though, if she is fairly attractive. These women are not. So, not only are they using their sex to try to manipulate people, it is a pathetically futile attempt. They are embarrassingly clueless as to how they appear to other people. Far from convincing anyone, they just underline how out of touch the anti-war movement is with the American public (as if nominating John Kerry wasn't enough).

Posted by: Ardsgaine at November 7, 2005 09:37 AM

Yeah, that sure explains the "rioting" in France.
