Absolutely right, Stephen. Never, ever forget. The folks who enjoyed the pleasure of having the communist boot on their neck certainly haven't, and won't. I live and work in Germany, and travel to Poland on a fairly regular basis (wife loves the pottery). Those folks over there (I can only speak for those within 100 kilometrs or so of the German border) are so pro-American, you wouldn't believe it. And they're in love with western capitalism. The entrepreneurial spirit is definitely alive and well. And to them, with the possible exception of John Paul II, Ronald Reagan is the greatest man who ever lived. It makes me fear for our own country's future, because those who don't have to fight for their liberty oftentimes don't give it the appreciation it deserves, and allow themselves to lose it.

Let's not forget all those oppressed people shot while trying to flee from the repressive West Germany (propped up by the evil Americans) into the workers' paradise that was communist East Germany. Oh, that's right there were none.

Thank you for posting this. I have a piece of the Berlin wall and have it on a shelf in my living room. I picked it up from remnants of the wall while on a trip to Berlin years ago. I'll *never* forget standing in the ditch that was the wall and seeing the formerly communist side to my right and the western side to my left. The stark contrast ws breathtaking and unforgettable.

Most people on the left never got past the humilation, when repeating the Communist line that the wall was to keep others out, of having it pointed out that the guns all faced INWARD.

Most leftists still can't get past the evasion and denial. Many in Germany can't, either.
