Don't think I'll do any blogging tonight. My best friend's sister was in a horrible accident, and things looked grim. Grim Reaper grim. We just now found out that she's not going to die, and that she didn't suffer any brain damage. Broken bones, scrapes, whatever - all that she can recover from. Important thing is, she's going to live, and as a full human being. It's hard to gripe about the news, after hearing news like that. Comments
damn.... that sucks. good luck to her, and it's good to hear it's survivable. i don't pray, but I'll offer up a small bit of hope for her from my small nick in the blogosphere. Posted by: Rick at July 26, 2005 09:57 PMas long as there is life there is hope Stephen... best wishes to your fallen friend. Posted by: sven10077 at July 26, 2005 10:02 PMGlad to hear the reaper will have to look elsewhere. Posted by: BenJCarter at July 26, 2005 11:10 PMwon't do any blogging tonight is a lousy way to start a blog post. i hope your bf's sis recovers fully. Posted by: Dirk Diggler at July 26, 2005 11:27 PMBest wishes for a full recovery for her, Stephen. Posted by: Brandon at July 27, 2005 12:40 AMYes - we're pulling for a full recovery. Glad Grim was called off on this one. Posted by: Kathleen A at July 27, 2005 05:55 AMSorry to hear about her accident, but I'm glad that she's going to make a recovery. I hope and pray that her recovery is fast and complete. I know what you're saying when life hits you in the face sometimes and reminds you about what is important. A friend of mine is battling cancer, and the visiting nurse was helping him with his chemo. He asked his nurse about her other patients. It turns out that he's just about her only grown patient: all the rest are kids. Many of them aren't going to make it. My friend is doing OK, but it's tough. After hearing about her other patients he said to me, "I've got no complaints." (I think I'll give him a call today.) Take care. Posted by: kevino at July 27, 2005 07:00 AMGlad to hear she's gonna recover Steve. Posted by: Garrett at July 27, 2005 08:18 AMThings like this always help put everything else in perspective, don't they? I'm very glad to know it's looking less grim than it did at first. :-) Posted by: Cynical Nation at July 27, 2005 08:21 AMIt's things like this that make you realize that, on balance, you don't have anything REALLY worth complaining about. I'll keep her in my prayers. Best of luck to her. Posted by: Disillusionist at July 27, 2005 09:44 AMSorry about the news. May God be with her and give her a swift and full recovery. I guess we'll let that blog slide... but after get back on the horse. Posted by: booskovski at July 27, 2005 09:53 AMAmen!!! Posted by: C. Olivas at July 27, 2005 02:22 PMMy cousin was through an accident like that - her car was T-boned on the A1 some years ago, and for two days we thought she was dead. Today she barely remembers the crash. Posted by: Gush Manara at July 27, 2005 03:03 PMMy wife got smacked by a car as a pedestrian a little over two years ago. She had a head injury, broken sholder blade, 3 broken ribs, a broken tailbone, a broken pelvis and two broken legs. The good news is that she's Scottish and landed on her head. That's why she survived. Posted by: N. O'Brain at July 27, 2005 04:52 PMI'll drink to the good news. Speaking of which, we need a blogbash. Posted by: Robin Roberts at July 27, 2005 07:13 PMSending good thoughts her way. Posted by: Pauly D at July 27, 2005 07:22 PMMy thoughts and prayers are with your friend's sister as she fights for life. Sending much positive energy her way. I have so long enjoyed your blog and am glad to offer some time on the knees for all the sanity you were to me during the last election. I'll never forget my favorite post of yours during the debates re. Kerry ("I hate him. I just freakin' hate him.") I laugh still every time I think of how perfect that was. Posted by: tmt at July 27, 2005 07:58 PMPraise God that she will be okay! Posted by: Layla at July 27, 2005 09:07 PMI'm glad she's going to live and be ok.
