Is the "flypaper effect" working? According to data being (inadvertently) pimped by Mark "Kos" Zuniga and uncovered by James Joyner, it very well may be.

James did some fine work putting his post together - read it all. Kos, less so.

Thanks! In all modesty, I can't claim credit for it though--it's co-blogger Steve Verdon's post.

I am, however, tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.

...perhaps Kos is confusing lack of MSM Afghan coverage with lack of US military action.

Posted by: leelu at July 8, 2005 11:39 AM

James, I feel your pain.

Sorry, James and Steve!

And Will... that was just plain funny.

Hey, Kos don't need no stinkin facts! He's part of the 'fake but accurate' school.

His methodology reminds me of the auto-body shop credo....

cut to size,
beat to shape,
file to fit,
paint to match!

It is pretty funny going and watching the Kosby kids make points that they don't even grasp they are making. Iraq IS working, if it were not there would have been FAR more attacks in our collective backyards.

Despite denials from the moral equivalence crowd, the United States is not the problem. If we are truly turning mild-mannered Syrian milkmen into suicide bombers by helping Iraqis create a historic democracy, or by toppling the Taliban in Afghanistan or by helping Israel survive and thrive, then the problem still lies with the terrorists. And they alone deserve the blame for their murderous acts.

Hey Tim, you forgot about slapping Bondo on it and maybe sanding down the obvious high spots.

Posted by: triticale at July 9, 2005 07:02 AM

Leelu has it, and I'd hate to see it buried without giving her/him credit.

Kos and his ilk believe that if they don't read it in the NYTimes, it didn't happen.

They are unable to comprehend that we are STILL AT WAR IN AFGHANISTAN because people like Nancy Pelosi tell them that the war in Afghanistan is over.

They, remarkably, believe that.

Nothing more needs to be said about their skills in critical thinking.

And it is why they will never run the country.

RE: The Flypaper Strategy

It's working.

Iraq is a centrally located, highly illuminated, massive kill zone drawing the wannabe dead-guys to it like a purple light surrounded by electrified wire draws flies at night. And almost as effective.

RE: This Recent Bombing in London

Some people are beginning to realize how effective the strategy is. Now they're trying to attack outside of the kill zone of Iraq.

However, such attacks will be counter-productive, in the extreme.

England should do the following:

[1] Cease all immigration of peoples of Middle Eastern descent.

[2] Make it blatantly clear that if such attacks occur again, all immigrants who have not been naturalized will be sent back to their land of origin. And they'll have to pay for their own transporation. If they cannot pay, the government will pay and it will also confiscate and sell all their possessions to defray the cost of their deportation.

England has no historic precedent of internment camps. We do. And I am certain that if such attacks were to occur here, we'd be reopening said camps. And I think the Muslim community in America is very much aware of that possibility.

But I could be wrong. Pray that I am not....
