Blogging Malaise

What she said. Comments
She's got a good point, except I would point out that given their mission the Powerline guys do a good job. To many end up trying to copy them, instead of finding our own niche, damn the counter stats. I try to post what interests me at the moment either in the world or my life - like last night's Elvis Costello concert from '77 on XRT in Chicago. It reminded me of his SNL appearance later that year, which was great moment in time. So I wrote about it, and how things have changed for both Elvis and me since then Posted by: Pursuit at April 11, 2005 11:03 AMWhatever happened to doing it for the pure joy of writing? Posted by: Superhawk at April 11, 2005 11:33 AM"turned it into some kind of Internet vigilantism." Does she write Bush's speeches or does he write her blog? "If she wants to post mundane posts then she will get few hits. Post what you want and stop trying to keep up with Scraple Face or lgf." You're presuming an awful lot, Rod. And your presumptions are wrong. Posted by: michele at April 11, 2005 12:33 PMWrite what moves you. It's not pass/fail. Posted by: Chris Muir at April 11, 2005 02:49 PMPerhaps she needs to change her own style, read some different blogs and if that doesn't help, maybe she needs to get a life. I have to agree with the above commentors. If she just doesn't enjoy what she's doing, why is she doing it? There are a lot more lucrative ways to spend your time. Sounds like she's projecting her own shortcomings onto everyone else. Posted by: Tim P at April 11, 2005 03:01 PMI think it's spring fever and it's hitting alot of people. Yet, because you have people that come to a blog regularly to read it, a little bit of guilt creeps in if you don't post something interesting on your blog. "Sounds like she's projecting her own shortcomings onto everyone else." And you're projecting on her in a similar vein, Tim P. Posted by: Shana Barrow at April 11, 2005 05:16 PMI'm with Shar. I was shocked to realize I haven't posted anything since last Wednesday! That must be some kind of a record for me. But I do have news fatigue, and, as I commented on Michele's blog, I think that the change of seasons is contributing to my lack of production. It sure is nice out there, and for the first time in months I'm actually well enough to enjoy it -- that doesn't leave much of anything left for blogging later in the day, but it's a worthwhile trade-off. Posted by: Joan at April 11, 2005 05:17 PMThanks for your concern Tim. In fact, I stopped political blogging months ago. I stick to pop culture for the most part now, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit, thank you very much. Lucrative, too, relatively speaking. What's interesting here is that Stephen, in the wording of his post, agreed with me, yet you're all jumping down my throat or psychoanalyzing me while giving our host a free pass. Why's that? Posted by: michele at April 11, 2005 05:34 PMWell Michele, I think I'll cop out to the 'it's spring' excuse too. Lame, I know, but it seems to work for whatever ails ya. I just don't see the vigilanteism, but then we probably don't read the same blogs except for maybe Powerline and I just don't see them as vigilantees. I'm glad you're back to having fun. Because if there was one thought, to take seriously, it's don't do it if you don't enjoy it, even for the money. Life's too short. Now if you'll excuse me, it's a nice day here too and I think I'll get back to my life and go change my bike tire so I can ride into work tomorrow. Posted by: Tim P at April 11, 2005 08:18 PM"vigilanteism" Contains "vigil" The "GOP Memo Story" as presented by the media outlets was not factual. Why shouldn't someone keep watch and cry foul when necessary? Powerline was no more wrong about the facts of the story than were the original reporters, and powerline had the excuse that they weren't present at the accual event. Posted by: John at April 11, 2005 08:46 PMHey guys, Sorry to threadjack. I'm going to try my hand at designing a t-shirt featuring the logos of some prominent right-wing blogs and give the design to one of the right-wing t-shirt printers. I want it to be similar to the "life is full of choices" shirts and just basically be a montage of logos and urls. So tell me which blogs you would like to appear and I will seek their permission - or alternately- if you run one of them just give me your url and e-mail address indicating you would like to be included. I will be accepting logos in any format you have - but would prefer eps or pdf files. Leave a comment on my site at http://www.conservativeright.blogspot.com, or e-mail me at millsmultimedia@yahoo.com. Posted by: bambam5 at April 12, 2005 12:25 PM |
