1. jeff g,the response of protein wisdom: Dear Hey,
Comments
he he! it's gonna' be a LOOOOONG Hey, guest blogging is a hard thing to do. People come to a blog regularly because they appreciate not just what is being said, but the way it's said. The like the voice. Imagine a nice medium rare steak, baked potato with sour cream, sauted mushrooms... apetizing yes? Now imagine that being served on a garbage can lid... not so apetizing anymore. I'm not saying that the guest bloggers are garbage, but more making the point that presentation matters no matter what is being said... and guest blogging definitely makes an abrupt change to the presentation that people enjoy and come back for time and time again. It's a tough gig... not something I think I would do for someone even though I am a link whore, and would appreciate adding exposure to my own blog. Moreover, I'm way too protective of my blog to ever let someone guest blog for me. Definitely a tough thing to do... let's not go to nuts on these poor guys. Posted by: Nick at March 15, 2005 08:27 AMThat's nothing. Just think how LOOOOOOOONG it's gonna be for those of us who aren't whiney. Posted by: triticale at March 15, 2005 08:28 AMtriticale -- fair point. well-put. but it is comical p e a c e, -- tae, out. Posted by: tae_diggs at March 15, 2005 08:34 AMFWIW, Jeff, I think you're hilarious. I enjoyed the elevator post, and your Lileks comment. Posted by: denise at March 15, 2005 09:36 AMWell, as long as you are amused -- that is what is important, isn't it? Posted by: The Wandering Mind at March 15, 2005 10:05 AMIt's all about the ME, Wandering Mind. Posted by: Jeff G at March 15, 2005 10:10 AMJeff: As someone who hits Protein Wisdom first and last every day and only occasionally visits vodka, and when I do I usually regret it, because it's usually the cheap variety mixed with some viscous chocolate-brown liquid .... Well, anyway, Prost!, and see if you can convince Stephen to put me on his blogroll. Posted by: Karl Maher at March 15, 2005 10:33 AMJeff baby, I think you misinterpreted my comment to your elevator post....loved it. I'm afraid my extremely humurous 13th floor response missed the mark. I'm a big fan of PT, having recently argued with you over that fake injun's rights. One question: Why so sensitive over here? Blog on with confidence in your greatness my man. Posted by: Pursuit at March 15, 2005 10:55 AMPursuit -- I'm not sensitive at all. I'm just having fun with all this. And I didn't think your comment was meant to be critical at all. Though I suspect my mystery emailer "hey" did. Posted by: Jeff G at March 15, 2005 11:00 AMWhat Nick doesn't get (and I liked your fisking of that petty, comic Gorin article) is the obverse of the change in voice from a guest. There are doubtless, dozens, scores even, of readers who might discover they like Jeff's humor more than VP. Personlly, PW is the funniest blog out there, but guest blogging is a tricky thing. At least Jeff is good, not like that Judd Nelson. and whine they will, for they are the ones looking at blogs that agree with their own confusion. Seperate your self- come on feel it- yes you too can read comments from someone you disagree with and not blame steve for your lousey day. Posted by: pete at March 15, 2005 11:35 AMYou are all my social constructs anyway....(followed by maniacal laughter) Posted by: Old Dad at March 15, 2005 12:47 PMT Marcell, I do understand... just not sure I like it. Once again, it probably has to do with the fact that I would never give that sort of control over my blog to a guest. The fisking he refers to is here if anyone is interested. Thanks Posted by: Nick at March 15, 2005 01:34 PMHey, no one gave me a login to post here.
