WASHINGTON - The Bush administration said Wednesday it would seek to reinstate an indictment against a California pornography company that was charged with violating federal obscenity laws. It was Attorney General Alberto Gonzales' first public decision on a legal matter.
Billed as the government's first big obscenity case in a decade, the 10-count indictment against Extreme Associates Inc. and its owners, Robert Zicari, and his wife, Janet Romano, both of Northridge, Calif., was dismissed last month by U.S. District Judge Gary Lancaster of Pittsburgh.
Somebody needs to be slapped upside the head with a brick, with the words "There's a War On" etched into it.

Bait and switch... they need an issue that is visual enough to get everyone's attention. It will plese social conservatives (and while on principle I'm libertarian, I get enough porn I didn't ask for that I'm not going to cry for the providers) and it will distract from the association of Gonzales with torture.
Perhaps he could do both?

I hate the idea of a nanny-state, but I would applaud the elimination of sadistic, immoral, EVIL shit like this from ever getting into the porn underground. Freedom of expression is everything, but a video showing a woman screaming as she's gangraped and murdered? Even if it's fake, THATS too goddamn far! Honestly, who are the sick shits that find this sort of thing stimulating, anyway? I guess sort of like the "ex"-child-molester who lives two blocks over. (I don't have any kids, but thank God for those mandatory bulletins.)
