I'd read the Army robots story already, but reader Todd Pearson highlighted a line I'd missed:
"The lawyers tell me there are no prohibitions against robots making life-or-death decisions," said Mr. Johnson, who leads robotics efforts at the Joint Forces Command research center in Suffolk, Va.
Then how come Mike Dukakis was never elected President?
UPDATE: I just realized Todd is fellow blogger, but he didn't give me a link to his post. Hey, Todd... help me out here!
UPDATE: Got yer link right here. Click on over for Todd's take.
no prohibitions?
they never read asimov then, i guess.
Charlie don't surf--and robots don't read. ;)
I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.
Sorry.
Those robots, judging by the photo, seem vulnerable to stuff getting on the camera lens. Better add a lens-cleaning arm!
(Imagine someone tosses a grenade attached to a can of paint, and the paint splatters all over the robot's camera.)

What will the Army do when they find out that 10% of robots are homosexuals?
Todd's link doesn't work. Either instance of it.

Simple, they'll follow Clinton's line:
Don't RTS, N-ACK
There's a typo in the link -- robot soldiers, not robot soliders. Though I suppose they could be more solid than other robots. Regardless, click here for the robot soldiers.
Apropos of nothing, the new Google Toolbar beta does spellcheck.
