Edwards is speaking, and it doesn't sound like he's setting up Kerry for a concession. I think I speak for millions of Americans when I say, "Oh, shit." Comments
Didn't a leaked Democratic memo say last week that regardless of the poll results, they were going to claim victory and then send in the lawyers? Posted by: Siergen at November 3, 2004 12:31 AMActually, Mr. Green, millions of us just said, "What a bunch of jerkoffs." Posted by: Brian at November 3, 2004 12:31 AMTake the second best: I CONCEDE!!! All the fist shaking and thumb pointing by the Breck girl isn't going to change the outcome of this. Posted by: Len - KC at November 3, 2004 12:32 AMLet me get this straight. We are up 3 MILLION Votes. We have the Senate We have the House Ohio is outside the margin that would require a recount. in 2000, there were 5 states in recount, this year, none. And Kerry is not going to concede?
it's too bad Kerry/Edwards doesn't translate into a neat catchphrase like Sore/Loserman... Posted by: merc at November 3, 2004 12:34 AMyou said it for at least 60 million Americans. Posted by: scottm at November 3, 2004 12:35 AMHere's just a thought, can Bush call Kerry and offer him the ambassador to France spot? I mean, he speaks the language, he's on good terms with them, why not? Maybe Kerry is just waiting for a good counter offer from Bush. I'm done, it's time to sleep. If Kerry/Edwards haven't turned off at least half their voters by this ploy, then they are dumber than I would have ever thought. Posted by: Carl at November 3, 2004 12:40 AMAt what point do we stop taking them seriously? Oh, eight months ago? Good, I'm going to bed. Posted by: KG at November 3, 2004 12:41 AMI am calling this election: 272 Kerry Kerry gets Ohio with the absentee ballots. - Daniel Posted by: Daniel at November 3, 2004 12:41 AM
All I can see that would be a reason not to concede is possibly Ohio. Other than that? It's not pretty, but it's a W. Posted by: Margi at November 3, 2004 12:43 AMThe only way to make 2004 lawsuit-proof at this point is to take all the remaining states including Wisconsin. Then you could concede Ohio to the lawyers, and still win. Without Wisconsin, it's Florida 2000 all over again. As Ronald Reagan would say: "Well, there they go again." Maybe they'll take it all the way to the Supreme Court. What a frolic that would be! Look on the bright side: more Democrat lawsuits mean more Republican voters. Suing Ohio will wrack the country in a Florida 2000 debacle, sure, but the ugly spectacle will also serve to show the degree to which the Democrat party has been taken over by screeching moonbats. That can only help Republicans. Posted by: Ronald Reagan at November 3, 2004 12:44 AMTwo dangerously selfish scumbags in a row. Uh--make that three. I'm sure glad I quit voting for that party. Posted by: Brett at November 3, 2004 12:47 AM97% of Ohio precincts are in. Cuyahuga county is all in, and it wasn't enough to pull Kerry ahead, or even within the automatic recount triggering 0.5% margin. Right now it's all on the absentees and the provisional ballots. And then only if there are more than 125,000 of them. Realistically, there would need to be at least 300,000 or more of both with a very strong lean to Kerry (70/30) to enable Kerry to actually tie or win the state. Bush's margin of victory at this point looks pretty sound, though we could still see plenty of ugliness in the courts. Posted by: Robin Goodfellow at November 3, 2004 12:47 AMI'm still up, and I've written a few things over at my place, but Stephen, you've been my lifeline this evening. The minute I heard Kennedy was with the other JFK, I knew something was up. Should we be surprised? No. Is this going to create more ex-Democrats? I don't think so, not any remarkable change,at least. If people were smart enough to care, we would be out celebrating right now, instead of here commiserating. Posted by: American Mother at November 3, 2004 12:59 AMUm, Houston, we may have a problem. The C-span map shows New Mexico with 101% of precincts reporting. I sure hope that's a rounding error! Oddly enough, C-Span hasn't called New Mexico yet! Posted by: Steve S. at November 3, 2004 01:15 AMI think millions of Americans would be saying something like "For the love of God, don't do a 2000 on us!"
