The EU has sprung into action! Read:
LONDON – The European Union appears to have resolved a year-long dispute with Syria over its weapons of mass destruction program.
Officials said Brussels and Damascus have agreed on a clause that addresses Syria's WMD programs. They said the clause does not stipulate that Syria must dismantle its programs, rather that Damascus would not proliferate biological, chemical or nuclear weapons.
Apparently, using Syrian WMDs against civilians in Sudan is kosher, however.
gosh, what a lovely nuanced position by the eu...
Shouldn't that be "using Syrian WMDs against civilians in Sudan is hallal, however."
Personally, I like the ironic use of kosher. Any guesses where Syria would *like* to use those WMD's???
In all seriousness, what ever happened to that story? Did it disappear because it was debunked, or did it disappear...well, you know why. And aside from the possibility that Syria indeed has a thriving WMD program of its own, did anyone think to question if maybe Li'l Assad might have received a small "goodie bag" from a certain neighbor who might have had a specific reason for not keeping the WMD at his house?

RE: A Win-Win-Lose Situation
Syria "wins" because, since it in all likelihood got its weapons from Iraq. The weapons being those "proliferated" by Saddam Hussein, Syria doesn't need to "proliferate" any of its own or any more. These will probably be quite sufficient, thank you very much.
The EU "wins" because it 'knows' Syria won't make any more. It has enough already.
The people in Sudan and anyplace else "lose", for reasons blatantly obvious to the casual observer.
Very neat....

RE: Coincidences, Anyone?
Very interesting, how the Syrian WMD program's inception and fruition all came about around the time Saddam needed to start evacuating his, neh?

Nope, no connection between the two, Chuck. You're wrong!

Just to make sure, proliferation means selling it to other countries/organizations, correct?
