Is John Kerry's favorite President. . . Ronald Reagan?
NOTE: I mentioned this during my debate drunkblogging, but I'll repeat it here. With all the nice talk Kerry makes about Reagan today, would someone please look up some choice anti-Reagan lines Kerry made when Reagan was actually in office? Thanks.
That's way too easy. His "Christmas in Cambodia" speech before the Senate in 1986, for example. Or this.
WHY THE SKEPTICISM? A SHORT ANSWER IS THAT THE PRESIDENT IS CAUGHT UP IN A WEB OF CONTRADICTIONS. HIS PURPOSE, UNSTATED, IS NONETHELESS EVIDENT: THE DESTRUCTION OF A MARXIST REGIME. UNWILLING AND UNABLE TO DO WHAT IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE THAT GOAL, HE REFUSES TO PURSUE THE ALTERNATE COURSE, CONTAINING THE SANDINISTAS WITHIN NICARAGUA.

Here's another
What about John Kerry? He was definitely not a Cold Warrior, though you wouldn't know it from his campaign, which seldom (if ever) mentions his consistent opposition to Ronald Reagan's foreign and defense policies during the 1980s. Back in those days, Kerry defined himself as the anti-Cold Warrior. At the 1988 Democratic convention, he characterized the Reagan presidency as a time of "moral darkness."
And
more.
We don't need another Ronald Reagan type in Washington. Let me tell you that." (PBS's NewsHour With Jim Lehrer, 6/5/96)
Of the Reagan White House, "They were willing to literally put the Constitution at risk because they believed there was somehow a higher order of things, that the ends do in fact justify the means. That's the most Marxist, totalitarian doctrine I've ever heard of in my life.... You've done the very thing that James Madison and others feared when they were struggling to put the Constitution together, which was to create an unaccountable system with runaway power . . . running off against the will of the American people." ("Not Too Late For A War Crimes Trial," OC Weekly, 2/1/02)
Sound familiar?
Kerry makes me desperately angry with the Democratic Party.. I want them to do better than to offer this man as an alternative to Bush. I really do..!!
"Sen. Kerry, responding to criticism that he lacks the fortitude to prosecute the War on Terror, displays what he claims is a scale plaster replica of his testicles."

I don't need to say anything about Kerry's record during Reagan's presidency. All I have to do is watch Zell Miller's speech again. He says it better than I or anybody else on this post could ever do.
Watch out, it's a setup. Kerry's October surprise...A Nancy Reagan Endorsment.
Des, that really would be a surprise, since Nancy already publicly endorsed Bush not long after the "Cambodia-on-the-Charles" Dem convention.
Kerry's favorite President is whoever he thinks is the favorite President of his audience. Franklin Pierce, Chester Arthur, John Tyler . . . if he thinks it's what his audience wants to hear, he's going to say it.
Not that that's news to anybody.
