Usually for these live-blogging things, I put up a separate post for each entry. As we learned during Bush's convention speech last month, that can play hell on my server. If I understand the details correctly (and I don't), my blog software can't handle the stress of constantly creating new pages while getting constant "refresh" requests from eager readers. So - all tonight's drunkposts will be combined as one. Just scroll down for the very latest. And try not to hit "refresh" too often, please. Comments
Interesting you mentioned posting it all in one post. I'm going to try to follow your earlier model and blog in separate posts. I converted to Wordpress, so it may make it easier. What is your drink of choice for tonight? I'm either enjoying a warm and soothing Lagavulin, or it's a spicy Mexican Martini. Posted by: elgato at September 30, 2004 06:14 PMI promise only to refresh (if at all) after I refill my scotch. Cheers! Posted by: George at September 30, 2004 06:17 PMSadly I'm reading this from Korea (working out here for a little while) and it's 9:30am Friday morning so my only access to the debates will be through blogs. I can't think of a better way to blog a presidential "debate" than to be totally loaded. I'm not a Vodka drinker, but I'm sure one of your other readers can have a Scotch for me. (preferably Cragganmore) I was grilling this evening, so I started and will finish with Shiner Bock. Ribeyes over black walnut. Sticking to beer is worth it. Posted by: Amok at September 30, 2004 06:30 PMIt's scotch on this end too. And no need to worry about anyone messing around with the alcohol content. Scots don't take kindly to that. Posted by: Robert at September 30, 2004 06:32 PMAll this talk of Shiner and grilling out makes me homesick! God bless the USA! Posted by: Jace at September 30, 2004 06:34 PM12 year old rum for me...smooooooooth. Shiner Bock kicks some major ass. I'm having a few myself here in Phoenix, not Texas. Is that wrong? Posted by: Scott P at September 30, 2004 06:38 PMAh, Jace. Not only that, but there is Thursday night Texas high school football going on tonight. And the Cubs lose again. Life is good. Posted by: Amok at September 30, 2004 06:38 PMI'm in the newsroom, so no drinking for me. Knock one back for me, guys, especially the Scotch! Posted by: Bill Peschel at September 30, 2004 06:42 PMBTW, Mr. Green, I greatly appreciate your work. Beautifully done. Posted by: Amok at September 30, 2004 06:42 PMI can't get Shiner here in NYC. I need to roadtrip to MD to buy a case. Instead, I've got Sam Adams. Reminds me of when good politics used to come out of Massachusetts. Posted by: David [.net] at September 30, 2004 06:42 PMAs far as Scotch is concerned Korea is a wasteland. My Martini loving girlfriend says the Vodka selection isn't bad. Here it's pretty must limited to Soju. The local fire water that is a kind of weak (18%) potatoe Vodka. It's about 80 cents a bottle. Be thankful you live in the U.S. where the booze is good and strong (despite some companies best efforts) Posted by: Jace at September 30, 2004 06:44 PMShiner is good anywhere, maybe even in Philly where there's not much beer that's better than Yueng-ling. I decided on Bailey's comets. I am low on tequila and I decided against the Scotch. Not special-enough an occasion to spend 90 minutes on Lagavulin. So it's vodka and Irish cream tonight over cracked ice. Mmm... Posted by: elgato at September 30, 2004 06:45 PM80 cents a bottle? dude.. even if its bad its good same justification for drinking natty ice at frat parties... macallan 18 here... was going for some balwhennie... but need to save that for election night (hopefully open up some dom on the 2nd as well) Posted by: hey at September 30, 2004 06:47 PMAaaaggghhhh. TO: Stephen Green The questions that come to my mind, after reading that is, "How much have you had so far?" How much must I do to catch up? The follow-on question is, "Are you pacing yourself properly?" Regards, Chuck(le) Posted by: Chuck Pelto at September 30, 2004 06:49 PMGuiness for me. Deep inside Bush coun try.. Lehrer just started the intro.. here we go! Posted by: Johan at September 30, 2004 07:01 PMOK, I'll bite. *Was* Kery in the KGB archives after the fall??
