Don't Get Cocky

That's the first time Bush has cracked 49% since two days after his covention speech, and the lowest Kerry has been since the same date. The 4.6-point difference is also the biggest pro-Bush spread Rasmussen has reported since the poll began. What it looks like from here is, Rather has managed to erase the gains Kerry made against Bush's convention bounce. What a pal. Comments
Points here, points there, but if your policy is destructive, how is that constructive? Posted by: Tony at September 16, 2004 11:16 AM2%? 3% or even 5% "jump"? Who cares? Its statistically insignificant. The fact remains that we have 1.5 months to go and Kerry & Bush are neck and neck. Heaven forbid, but one massive bombing at a US barrack in Iraq is all it takes to bring the whole Iraq Rebuilding Project and the Bush Administration down. Things are very precarious at the moment. All I hope is, who ever wins, has a firm, concreate way to save and rebuild a democratic Iraq. Posted by: Daniel at September 16, 2004 11:48 AMThings are very precarious at the moment. All I hope is, who ever wins, has a firm, concreate way to save and rebuild a democratic Iraq. I've thought since this whole Rathergate thing began that the old expression "with friends like these, who needs enemies?" seems incredibly appropriate to the relationship between the Dems and the media. Posted by: Nicole Griffin at September 16, 2004 12:15 PMDaniel, in Vodka's recent archives is a post showing 77% disapproval w/W. I and 1 other pointed out that we'd also say that. We consider W not being hard enough in Iraq. This isn't 1983. We don't run. It would be a short-lived victory on their side. For all we know, we've already come to terms w/Allawi if that should come to pass. I also think quite a few Iraqis wouldn't mind if we finally went to town on Fallujah. Do you think dead soldiers or dead Russian schoolchildren would sway Americans more? Don't discount Beslan in W's poll numbers. Cabana Boy's already told us what he'd do, pull us out. A case can be made that we made that mistake in Nam - with Kerry's testimony and anti-war activities - and in Beirut - and we should learn from our mistakes. But I could be wrong. Posted by: Sandy P at September 16, 2004 12:47 PMAnd we have been playing by muslim rules, being multi-cultural and multi-lateral while in Iraq. Once again, relying on "allies" who can't handle the job. Is this all being enforced into the American subconscious, Europe, the UN, IAEA, Korea and Iraq? Multi-lateralism and failure. Posted by: Sandy P at September 16, 2004 12:52 PM"one massive bombing at a US barrack in Iraq is all it takes to bring the whole Iraq Rebuilding Project and the Bush Administration down." I wonder. And I think another big attack here would make more people vote for Bush not Kerry. This isn't Spain. Posted by: Yehudit at September 16, 2004 02:46 PMThere is a very interesting thing about Bush. I have noticed this among friends and on a ntional level. Bush tends to illicit a certain protectiveness in others, especially women. When confonted on this, they always seem surprised at first, and then it is like a light coming on somewhere. The question is; why are people, especially feminine types, so protective of this sawggering, macho guy? Because it's a refreshing change from metrasexuals and quiche eaters? Is it metra or metro????? Posted by: Sandy P at September 16, 2004 03:35 PMTWF - Sandy P - Bill at INDC (?) has a post about this. Now that women are paying attention, they see him in his uniform and he was cute. Plus he's a flyboy. Posted by: Sandy P at September 16, 2004 07:42 PMDated Kerry, Married Bush. Posted by: aaron at September 16, 2004 08:44 PM"Heaven forbid, but one massive bombing at a US barrack in Iraq is all it takes to bring the whole Iraq Rebuilding Project and the Bush Administration down." Ooh, nice analogy. Fact is, one thousand people plus have already been killed in Iraq, and we haven't pulled out yet. What makes you think "one big attack" would do so?
