OK, Matthews is a real-life (and consequently less interesting) Howard Beale screaming "I'm partisan as hell and I'm not going to take it any more." The real question is why anyone of substance would appear on this joke of a show...wait, I faintly recall the answer from way back when...they don't more than once.
