OK, so we don't have drywall back in place. We don't have a backsplash. Or toekicks. Or the crown moulding or the fancy new Lutron dimmers or the under-the-cabinet lights or even the drawer pulls.
We do, however, have a useable kitchen again.
And that means I might just be able to do some real blogging this week -- or at least what's left of it.
I have little interest in decorating but I have to admit that I like the matching gold stove and microwave.
Looks good.
Stainless steel, actually, but the light in there made for a some odd colors.
Maple and stainless. That's right, kids -- the VodkaKitchen has entered the 1990s!
Stephen: Very cool and sleek looking kitchen - bravo!
And I should know.... I'm a realtor.
Plus - I have good taste - LOL!
Hot damn!
Weinies, Mac n Cheese with Chateau neuf-du-Pape for din-din.

Get real, Ed.
I mean -- weinies? Mac'n'cheese? Oh, I don't think so.
We're gonna have bratwurst and pasta in chedder cheese sauce.
I'm just glad to hear that the range is NOT, in fact, gold-colored.
Lookin' good so far, Steve. Is that an All-Clad pot on the range top? If so, lookin' even better.
Is that an Advantium oven or a regular microwave?
We did our kitchen a couple of years ago and went with maple and stainless as well. We did granite as well, and we've been pretty happy so far.
What, the range and nuker are not gold plated? How pedestrian.
I take it the backsplash is going to be tile?
nice. i've lived thru a few remodeling and renonavting jobs. it tough work.
congratz.
you guys did GREAT!
Ah stainless steel. Makes sense. I see from other poster's relief it's not gold reinforces the fact that my wife is in charge of home decor.
what choice ceramic for the backsplash?
Maybe its just my eyes or my monitor, but in the small pic the backsplash looked like panels of hammered copper.. then I looked at the big pic and realized I was a dufus.. but then I thought a hammered copper backsplash might look really bitchin..
You're really good at that, Steve. What are your hourly rates? I have a kitchen that needs doing.
Seriously, nice job. You should be proud.
Oh no, Jim -- I just help with the heavy lifting and some of the finish work. The art is all done by pros.
That, and supervise. If you've ever worked with contractors, you know that:
You have to check everything coming in, to make sure it's what you paid for.
You have to check how everything is installed, to make sure it's done right.
You have to be on hand at all times to decide how things should go, since they never go as planned.
I'll tell ya, it's a full-time job.
Why no gypsum wallboard over the studs? Or why cut it out between the lower and upper cabinets?
Ooh, pretty! I can't wait for Fiona to break or scratch something on July 4! Woo!
