The LA Times screwed up again.
"Screwed Up" implies an unintentional action... This is the LA Times, I dont think it was an accident.
Yup, I agree with Ryan...Remember the recall? "Davis Aides Increasingly Confident!"
Only by 7% with a 38-25 Democrat/Republican Split?
Dubya must be smiling....
They also should take a HONEST statistics course...bleh.
As a Republican, I'm not complaining. I want to see more polls like this. Make the Democrats overconfident.
Assuming that Drudge is correct, for Kerry to be overconfident based on the LAT poll, he'd have to be alot more stupid (stupider?) than I think he is. I don't like him. I think he's trying to gloss over his anti war past (most of us managed to oppose the Vietnam War without accusing anyone of war crimes, and some of us have even admitted that such opposition was probably a mistake) and lying in the process. But stupid, he ain't.
DEWEY WINS!
Why, exactly, are we still pretending that anything in the papers is true?
I agree that this should have Kerry mortified instead of celebrating. A 13-point handicap only translates into a 7-point advantage? Ouch.
Saw a comment somewhere that if you assume 33% Rep, 33% Dem, and 33% Independent then the LA times poll would have showed a 5-6 pt lead for Bush.
If the population is closer to 35-30 democrat-republican leaning (historically) that would suggest that the 7 point Kerry lead is actually closer to a 1 point Bush lead (a good estimate would require the actually poll results and historical population data).
I do think that a liberal media that constantly shoves these flawed polls and skewed stories at the public is constructing a Trojan Horse that the democrats are pushing into their own castle. The confidence boost and concentration on news interests that differ greatly from what Americans want more information on (Abu Ghraib v. Nick Berg) is all working to shield Democrats from their own critical weaknesses.
Actually, Drudge is citing Roll Call, which in turn is probably citing Mickey Kaus, who had the scoop on this back on June 10th on his blog:
http://slate.msn.com/id/2102054/ and scroll down to June 10th entry.
Michael Kingley's the editor now. Truth and justice will reign.
LAT biased? Anyone say last couple days of Governor's Race?
Maybe they had Arthur Andersen check the numbers?
The Bush landslide is still rolling down the hill. All the LAT is doing is setting up the inevitable howls of "They stole the election." There will be no end of bitching and moaning after the 55-45 result flattens the dem's this fall.
