Krauthammer:
Let us be clear about the commercials. There is nothing graphic. No bodies. No blood. No names. This is not the Passion of 9/11, just iconographic images that we all remember, including the solemn bearing of a coffin and views of the devastation.
Is this off-limits? Beyond the bounds of decency?
The families have suffered. They deserve compassion and respect. But they do not own 9/11. This was not a house fire. This was not a train wreck. This was an act of war. And war is a national event.
Ah, but there's the twist. There is a significant number of people who believe this was not an act of war. One of them is running for president.

That's exactly what I said the moment I heard about it, that day.
These people own 9/11 as much as anyone can claim ownership to 12/7(/41).
The Dems use their kind all the time.

I just wish the reporting on this story could be accurate. It may be a small point, but there was no image of a "coffin" or of "bodies being pulled from the wreckage" as just about every new channel and reporter seems to be stating.
There was a one-second shot of firefighters respectfully carrying remains out on a stretcher. No COFFINS (which they didn't have at the site) and certainly no footage of any bodies or body parts being pulled from the wreckage.
And I'm someone who believes that we need MORE footage of what happened that day--I'm all for showing the body parts a la the BBC--as a way of reminding these people exactly what DID happen that day.
I'm more disgusted by the way the news media took it upon themselves to sanitize the coverage, deciding for us what we can or cannot stomach.
Um, by the way, has anyone been able to locate Maureen Dowd's column criticizing Clinton for using footage of OK City? I'm sure it's here somewhere in my stack of "great columns I must save for posterity", but I just can't seem to put my finger on it.
Please, please, post it when you find it. We need to be reminded of Ms. Dowd's clarity and consistency on this topic.
Hurry up, please. I'm about to turn blue from holding my breath.
