Sean Kirby: "Whatever hope I had for the man is lost." Comments
You guys who are planning to stay away from the polls or vote for an Islamic appeaser should calm down a bit. Gay marriage is not the hill I want to die on. Go to Scandanavia if you must get married and come back home united. For God's sake don't but our children's lives in danger because you're in a snit. Posted by: erp at February 24, 2004 04:46 PMActually, I live in Ontario, so I can get married right here. Posted by: Sean Kirby at February 24, 2004 04:58 PMAny voter whose choice for President hangs on this issue, at this point in history, is shallow indeed. Jesus Fucking Christ, people. Posted by: Tonto at February 24, 2004 05:23 PMJeez, a liberalhawk drama queen!!! I think this has more to do with the Passion coming out and the liberal urge to get up on that cross with jesus. Posted by: Raymond at February 24, 2004 08:32 PMAny President who proposes something like this proves that he LACKS the leadersip to guide this nation through a war on terror. Kerry isn't the man for the job, and by supporting this amendment, Bush has shown he is not fit to lead either. Posted by: Mike Silverman at February 24, 2004 09:14 PM"Any voter whose choice for President hangs on this issue, at this point in history, is shallow indeed. Jesus Fucking Christ, people." Nah, it could be this, plus rampant spending, plus John Ashcroft, plus a questionable drive to war (even though Saddam gone is a good thing, and that was reason enough). Plenty of reasons not to vote for Dubya. Plenty of reason not to vote for Kerry. Jesus fucking Christ? I suppose he could, but it'd take a pretty versatile dick. Posted by: andy at February 24, 2004 09:26 PMIf you live in Ontario, then why is this any of your business? Posted by: Jeremy at February 25, 2004 02:30 AM"If you live in Ontario, then why is this any of your business?" You're right. No blogger has ever, in the history of blogging, ever passed judgment or given an opinion on something happening in another country that didn't directly affect them. In fact, you've probably never done it yourself. Nope. Not a once. Posted by: andy at February 25, 2004 05:51 AMIf gays can marry in Canada, what's all this blathering about. Go to north young (or old) men and women, get married and let's get back to the important thing of demolishing Islamoterrorism for all time. Then get back to me about changing the marriage laws here. Posted by: erp at February 25, 2004 06:33 AMLook, Kerry has already said that he would support a ban on gay marriage as long as the civil union option was open. That's what Bush essentially said in his speech yesterday. Bush did not say he supported the much discussed proposed amendment that some have (persuasively) argued might also bar civil unions. So to despair over Bush and support Kerry, based on this issue, is idiotic. Second, this issue is one entirely for Congress and the States. If you don't support the amendment, don't vote for legislators who support it, but don't endanger the nations security by abandoning Bush. Posted by: Thom at February 25, 2004 07:24 AMSean, friend I can only advise you not to vote for him this November. Posted by: billhedrick at February 25, 2004 08:38 AMIt's funny; I noticed Sean's comment about living in Ontario, too. And then read his "any hope" blog entry. Which ends with the phrase "...but I do know for sure that I will not vote for George W. Bush." Which begs the question...is that because you disagree with his policies (not surprising when you're surrounded by a bunch of supercilious Canadians) or because you can't vote in an American election? Posted by: HT at February 25, 2004 12:20 PMI sure won't be voting for Paul Martin, like I never voted for Mulrooney or Trudeau. The issue here is judicual tyranny. I'll support gay marriage when my legislature passes it, not when a judge tells us we must. How can anyone accept an unelected judge making law? Posted by: Brian at February 25, 2004 02:36 PMI'm a dual citizen. I vote on both the United States and Canada, but live in Ontario. Posted by: Sean Kirby at February 25, 2004 04:07 PMTO: erp "You guys who are planning to stay away from the polls or vote for an Islamic appeaser should calm down a bit." -- erp Yup... ...there are people who think that Islam is better than democracy. Kinda 'odd' isn't it. But, still and all, I think Mr. Kirby does an excellent job of projecting; he thinks Bush is 'hopeless'. Ratlional people would think the opposite. At least none that he claims. There is something about having children which changes one's whole outlook on life. You begin to actually THINK about the 'future'; their future. Instead of how your going to get laid the next night. Funny think that. Maybe when he, and others around here, grow-up, in that respect, they'll finally understand.
