If the report is true that nine B-52s hit Iraq, what kind of power is that?
Nine heavy bombers.
16 JDAMs per plane.
1 target per JDAM.
That's 144 targets with one strike package.
That's shock and awe.
It's also approximately the number of beers in a keg. Can you tell it's Friday?
Oh - and some of us are meeting at My Bros. Bar in Denver this evening if you're up for a drive, drinking, and driving home. I guess not, though.
ABC correspondant Richard Engle sure sounded shocked as he was broadcasting live from downtown Baghdad. Poor guy.
But according to the generals this really isn't "shock and awe". We're cool, flexible, not working too hard. We can crank it up any time we like if we feel like it...
...anyone feel like surrendering?
I believe his actual words were "shocking... and awe inspiring." About 10 minutes later, he had another priceless moment. He proudly says "It looks like things are getting quieter, yes, they've quieted down." Then you hear the crescendo of a whoosh that can only be a low-altitude, low-bypass turbofan engine (i.e. cruise missile), and then BOOM! Poor guy must have pissed himself. Oh, and according to the Pentagon, those -52s launched cruise missiles from a stand-off position
Stephen, That's 12 JDAM/plane. But can carry internally (along with the JDAM) 27 Mk-82, or 8 CALCM or 8 MK-84 (2000 lb, like JDAM without GPS kit) etc. Still a lot of firepower. B-2s carry 16 JDAM/plane. B-1 24 JDAM/plane....
