I think seeing their faces just made this horribly real. That's the only explanation for the sudden and unexpected tears rolling down my face.
Something I just thought of. When you look at their pictures, notice their faces.
Look how happy they seem. Those faces bring to mind the pure, unadulterated joy on a child's face when they walk through the gates of Disneyland for the first time.
These folks died doing something they loved, something I think they deeply believed in. I hope this country has the strength to honor them in the way I think they would want.
Do not falter. Keep flying. Push the envelope. Mars or Bust.
They would want us to. Let's not disappoint them.

I want to die like that. In a blaze of glory, doing something that few people ever get a chance to do. I feel sympathy for their loved ones, but in a way I envy the astronauts. They went out wide-open and riding the sky. There are worse ways to go.
