And I only had to wait three years for this one!
UPDATE: The blogpause this afternoon is easily explained. Donald Fagen's first solo album, The Nightfly, arrived from Amazon today in glorious DVD-Audio format. Oh, sweet DTS 5.1 channel sound!
"Two Against Nature" marked the first time I ever owned a Best Album Grammy winner. And then I got to hear the rest of my generation whine about it.
If you enjoyed the DVD audio of Nightfly, listen to Two against Nature in the same format. But everyone knows that Katy Lied is Steely Dan's finest album. Phil Woods' solo on Dr. Wu is a transcendent musical moment that reminds me of Paul Desmond's work with Dave Brubeck. Of course, were you to ask me tomorrow, I might make essentially the same qualitative assessment of Brooklyn from the first album; that's the beauty of Steely Dan.
"Gaucho" is absolutely LUSH on DVD.
