I was about to keep whining like an unclassified, snot-nosed kid, but then I, like you, watched all those none-so-disparate headlines converge.

One wonders, though, how Bush will pad out the next month without losing momentum.

"Hey, over here!"

Just hearing Powell say "Material Breach" on Special Report tonight was all the reassurance I needed. I would like to see this done sooner rather than later though, because the rest of the globe isn't going to wait patiently for this to get over with. There's Korea, Iran, and Saudi to deal with.

I think he's just stalling to let the troops enjoy the holidays, then as soon as the hangovers are gone we roll.

Posted by: Karl at December 20, 2002 06:00 PM

Time is NOT on our side. The longer we wait to do this---and I don't believe it will take a huge military buildup to accomplish the job--the longer Saddam has to dispense his anthrax, sarin gas and other goodies. Hurry up, please, Mr. President.

anybody have a tide chart for coastal iraq?

New Moon is also January 4th. Time really isn't on our side. I want to see Stage 1 = The Kurdish Uprising now. Then I want to see Stage 2 = The Turks take Mosul and Kirkul. Stage 3 = UNSC res stating that, because of the intense civil war and a material breach of a major kind, the UN will take control over Iraq. I believe that we can get all three of this by January 4th. Putin and Chirac are conservative. Surely they see that a Bush humiliation will boost the left wing in France and Russia. Bush and Putin depend on Bush to keep conservative philosophy high (liberalism is for the twenty-somethings of the world who will run the world if Bush does not prevail).

The 4 Reasons to take Iraq (with its citizens fighting alongside):

1) Put Shiite armies on the Saudi Border in American tanks. That will stop terrorism overnight, at least the Sunni kind.

2) Not only terminate the whole Iraqi-Palestinian WMD threat, but find out fast if Western cities don't already have nukes in them. I want to see NOW what they might already have to explode. I don't want to wait until they might have something they don't already have or some more of what they might have.

3) Crash oil prices, ending the recession therewith and thus forcing Iran and the Saudis to want to be friendly to America so we might buy their oil too (or stay in the case of the Saudis).

4) Humiliate the world's Left Wing - A quick victory without chaos will do that, and there will be bonus points for Saddam using WMDs, but hopefully not effectively. It will tell everyone that Bush was right. The Intifada will end and the Palestinians who love America will take control of at least the West Bank (the Gazans are being used as hostages by the Israelis anyway). The only problem here is that China might still think it represents the world's Left Wing. France and Russia certainly don't right now. I even think that Schroeder wants his Far Left to be chastened. The young people of Germany and South Korea have been a little too arrogant lately. They need to see some reality.
