Today's Doonesbury is worth a chuckle or three. Really.
Wow! kind of hawkish for Trudeau.
Wow! kind of hawkish for Trudeau.
As a crazed right-winger myself, let me just say that I actually adore Doonesbury, and have since the late 70's. I own every book he's ever published.
Trudeau never really 'got' Bushes, strangely enough. His Bush 41 and 43 stuff is kind of flat. But a lot of things, like the tech environment of the 90's for example (MiKim Inc, run by Mike's kid daughter), he just knocked out of the park. He's done, and still does, a lot of magnificent work.
And let me say if you disagree, that by far the best way to read the Doones is in book form, as opposed to once a day. You get a far better sense of the rythm of the convoluted lives and interactions of the characters. It's basically one thirty-two year long story, and a damned funny, interesting, and acerbic one at that.
Anyway, back to my conservatism now. But Garry, if you ever should read this, God Bless you, and thanks, more than I can ever tell you.
Trudeau used to be funny most of the time. I stopped reading him regularly the last few years because he was only funny now and then and tiresome much of the rest of the time. I don't know if he got more doctrinnaire or lazier or both, but he ain't what he used to be.
But this one is funny. Good catch!
Y'know, I thought the same thing myself this morning.
I've been reading Doonesbury out of habit for so long that I can't even remember (when I began, and about 75% of the strips as well), but this one today made me sit up and pay attention. Hope it starts a trend...
Given Saddam's fondness for the American left this is going to be a real shock.
Et tu Trudeau?
I haven't found Trudeau funny in a decade and a half. This comic was worth a chuckle.
