i started a nasty comment war last month with a posting about "prima donna" air force people and a recommendation to bring the "Army Air Corps" back where it belongs, in the Army. I am working on another post for this weekend to outline some of the Afghanistan failures and why we shouldn't take that approach again. i'm sure it will tick off more of my Air Force readers.

Airpower was effective in Afghanistan and it was FTAC's and PTAC's (all Air Force) who directed those bombs to the targets, with great disregard for their own personal safety.

That's sure to fix the problem. The problem is communications and (probably) the lack of overarching command authority rather than any difference in organization. Bring the Air Force into the Army and you're asking for even more of the same, plus bonus resentment.

I bet you there were times when the ground-pounders had problems getting artillery support, too. And the arty guys are already in the Army.
