Pass It On
Posted by Stephen Green · 16 May 2002
Ladies and gentlemen -- I am back. I'm taking the night off to go see Star Wars. Twice. But you can bet the mortgage and your left testicle and/or ovary the VodkaPundit will be in full swing again after midnight tonight. For those who are wondering: It was a lovely service, a perfect reception, and everyone managed lots of honest smiles and genuine laughs and we kept the tears to the bare minimum. It was a helluva party, one she would have enjoyed. Salud! Comments
Welcome back. We missed you. And I'm glad you were able to say goodbye in a way that befitted your own emotions, and your grandmother's larger-than-life persona. Somewhere in the heavens, the cherubim and seraphim are frantically searching for Krispy Kreme donuts. After all, certain new arrivals deserve to be spoiled. ;-) Posted by: Pejman Yousefzadeh at May 16, 2002 03:07 PMWelcome back. I'm sorry you had to go thru all of that, but there comes a time when we all have to. You and yours are in our hearts because, well, you're family, damn it! Close enough anyway. I decided to say that publicly so you couldn't deny it. :) Posted by: Rob Dunn at May 16, 2002 03:18 PMWelcome back, and my condolences on your loss. Posted by: Paul Musgrave at May 16, 2002 03:22 PMWelcome back, Stefano! We missed you. Posted by: Sasha Castel "La Blogatrice" at May 16, 2002 03:24 PMIt's nice to see you back. I've really missed your posts which are always a good read. So sorry to hear about your unfortunate loss. It really sounds like you all saw her off in the best way possible. Now are you seeing Star Wars at a digital theatre (like the AMC Empire 25 on 42nd Street) or a regular theatre? Posted by: Will Hickling at May 16, 2002 03:53 PMWelcome back! Posted by: Shane at May 16, 2002 03:55 PMWhen my time on earth comes I want a booze swillin', call the cops, good old fasioned Irish wake. I hope that you had one for Her. Welcome back Brother Posted by: sswenviron at May 16, 2002 03:57 PMGlad to have you back, compadre; sympathies to your family. We *all* look forward to hearing from you regularly again...say, you're not gettin' a swelled head over all this praise & warm-fuzziness, are you? Good! Posted by: davidmsc at May 16, 2002 04:10 PMWelcome back, and my condolences over your loss. She sounded like a wonderful woman. Posted by: Bill Peschel at May 16, 2002 04:40 PMGlad to have you back, Stephen. You've been missed, buddy. Posted by: Mike at May 16, 2002 04:44 PMGood to hear, and welcome back - we've been saving this bar stool just for you. No offense to you, but I don't take any wager that involves my left testicle, nor my right. :-) Posted by: dever at May 16, 2002 04:51 PMAn oophorectomy is not too much to ask if it means getting my VodkaPundit back. Sorry about your grandma. Posted by: Melissa at May 16, 2002 05:22 PMWelcome back. And my condolences. Posted by: Josh at May 16, 2002 05:31 PMGood to see you a right-royal piss-up in her honour. It is great see when people celebrate someone's life rather than their death. I have always done a playlist for my wake! Welcome back man. Posted by: Andrew Ian Dodge at May 16, 2002 05:34 PMYou've been missed --- and from the rest of the posts, I can say it wasn't just by me. My condolences again, and I'm glad you managed to smile and laugh. A celebration of a life well-lived is what I'd wish (and I suspect your grandma was a kindred spirit). L'Chaim, Glad to see you and yours did it right; she deserved no less! The memories of all that was best about her will last your whole life. Celebration of Life...the best way to be remembered. MommaBear I toast your grandmother's memory and your return with a smoke and a Coke :) Posted by: SWVCTM at May 16, 2002 06:19 PMWelcome back, Stephen. I'll stay up late tonight. Posted by: Bill Quick at May 16, 2002 09:47 PMWelcome back! (I had two Krispy Kreme donuts. One is not enough.) Again, welcome back and my heartfelt condolences. I'm a die-hard LaMar's customer, but for tomorrow, a diversion to Krispy Kreme is in order. :) Posted by: Darmon Thornton at May 17, 2002 01:14 AMI'd like to extend my condolences on your loss to you and your family. She's in a better place now, and she'll welcome all of us quite soon enough. Once again, sorry to hear about this. Welcome back. Sympathies for your bereavement.
